A Turkish Work Permit is an official authorization issued by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, allowing foreign nationals to work legally in Turkey.
In most cases the application must be initiated by the employer. We work closely with both employers and employees so that every legal requirement is fulfilled.
Temporary Work Permit
The most common type, issued for a specified employer and position. Generally:
- The initial permit is granted for a limited period.
- After one year of legal employment, it may be extended for up to two additional years with the same employer and position.
- After three years of continuous legal employment, further extensions may allow work for different employers within the same profession.
- Eligible family members may also qualify for residence rights.
Permanent Work Permit
Eligibility generally applies to individuals who have:
- Legally resided in Turkey for at least eight years, or
- Accumulated six years of legal employment under Turkish work permit regulations.
Independent Work Permit
For qualified professionals and entrepreneurs who wish to work independently. Applicants are generally expected to show their activities will contribute to economic development, create employment and add value to the Turkish economy.
How to apply
- Applicants outside Turkey apply through the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their country of citizenship or legal residence.
- The employer in Turkey completes the corresponding process with the Ministry within the legal timeframe.
